The Green Lab community is rapidly growing as scientists recognize the need to reduce the environmental footprint of their laboratory operations. The first of its kind My Green Lab Accredited Professional program provides scientists and others who work with labs with the necessary knowledge base and tools to bring sustainability into their labs or organizations. The program focuses on the critical concepts of lab sustainability, emphasizing practical tools and takeaways.

Why Should I Become a My Green Lab AP?

This program is designed for scientists and people who support or work with laboratories, including green lab program managers, facility managers, lab managers, product manufacturers and reps, designers, architects, and engineers. The program will benefit anyone interested in lab sustainability who wishes to increase their knowledge of relevant topics and best practices. The program will serve as an introductory course to lab sustainability topics, emphasizing practical solutions. There are no prerequisites for becoming a My Green Lab AP.

What does the My Green Lab AP Cover?

What is My Green Lab?

My Green Lab is a global 501-(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to creating a culture of sustainability through science. Our goal is to unify and lead scientists, vendors, designers, energy providers, and others in a common drive toward a world where all research reflects the highest social and environmental responsibility standards. Run “for scientists, by scientists,” we develop standards, oversee their implementation, and inspire the many behavioral changes that are helping to bring sustainability to the bench. What is the AP Course Format?

Each module will include written content and resources, as well as recorded videos from My Green Lab and other professionals in the green lab and sustainability community. After completing all modules, registrants will be given a comprehensive final exam which must be passed with a score of >80% to achieve accreditation. The My Green Lab accreditation last two years, with an opportunity for continuing education and renewal.

Meet Our Curriculum Developers:

Dr. Rachael Relph

Rachael was the Chief Sustainability Officer at My Green Lab. An experienced green lab professional, she has a Ph.D. in chemistry from Yale University.

Scott Grant

Scott is My Green Lab’s Senior Program Director. Scott joined My Green Lab with over 25 years of experience in various laboratories.

Christina Greever

Christina is a Sustainability Program Manager at My Green Lab, and previously managed the Green Lab Program at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Raj Patey

Raj is My Green Lab’s Business Development Director. He works with manufacturers and procurement officials to promote sustainable lab procurement.

Jack O'Grady

Jack is a Sustainability Programme Manager at My Green Lab. Prior to joining My Green Lab, Jack has previously worked in laboratories of PepsiCo and Regeneron.

Jennifer Ballew

Jennifer is the founding Co-Chair of the Cambridge Sustainable Labs planning group, and the former Green Lab Program Manager at MIT.
